1. Back Stories
Well, it's been a long time coming but at last, the new album is finished. It's called Back Stories and will be released on March 29th. The music was recorded between Sundae Sound and home in Calgary, with friends from Woodpigeon and Key To The City (formerly Vailhalen). Check out the music page to download some pre-release mp3s from Back Stories.
2. Easy To Be Free: The Songs of Rick Nelson It's a new compilation released by US indie label, Planting Seeds Records. I contributed a delicate interpretation of one of Nelson's hit songs, Hello Mary Lou. The album is now available, so check out the label website about how to find it.
I'm with some good company on the disc: Jeffrey Foskett, a guitarist from The Beach Boys; Marshall Crenshaw (one of my favouite pop songwriters - check out "You're My Favourite Waste of Time... great song); Linda Draper (enchanting NYC singer/songwriter); Michael Barret (of Merge Record's Ladybug Transistor and Essex Green) and many more.
Rick Nelson was a shy, humble man with a reputation for honesty and integrity, and all he ever wanted was to feel respected by other musicians. Sounds like someone I know very well.
3. PIGEONBOOTH ::: the collaboration between AB and Woodpigeon! Check out the songs at myspace.com/pigeonbooth.
Woodpigeon & AB have infused their vocal acrobatics like *steeped* tea in a cave on the shores of Lake Iroquois. We sounds pretty we does.
